• First and foremost, the leader must be reading the Bible. • A leader must be able to facilitate a group pragmatically - organising venue and time. • It is the leader's role to ensure the group keeps the reading pace. This means deciding upon which book(s) are to be read for the next meeting, as well as encouraging and helping those who find it difficult to 'keep-up.' • Often it will be necessary to 'join-the-dots' for group members who have been noticing God speaking the same themes into their reading each week. It could be the leader's job to point out how this is applicable to their life and to challenge them to consider how God might be using His word to demand change.

• Sometimes a group may require the leader to keep them on task - both keeping the focus as well as keeping shares concise and ensuring the meeting is no longer than an hour. • Finally, praying for the group is paramount. This means praying for time management for individuals to get the most out of the reading, as well as praying that God's voice will speak clearly each week, both on an individual and group level.

How individuals go about choosing their points to share differs from person to person, and ultimately is up to personal preference. However, as a rough guide: • Identify at least three points that resonate with you as you read through the passage |

We want to see God glorified in the streets of our city. So we refuse to be ashamed of reading His word in public. For this reason we choose to meet in public places: coffee-shops, restaurants, parks etc. Although the purpose is not necessarily to share the gospel, none-the-less we feel it is incredibly important to witness to the city that God's hand is still moving and that there exists a people who are thirsty for His Word. God has used these groups in public places to draw people into the church. |

God doesn't always speak where you would expect Him to. In fact often it's the opposite. That's why we're not selective - we read whole books (something we feel is essential in getting the 'big picture') and we read from Genesis to Revelation. (Then from Genesis to Revelation.... then from Genesis to Revelation, etc.) We have two simple rules - don't skim and don't try to cram! |
|
Simplicity is crucial. Here's how it works: • During the week, read the book(s) the group has agreed on. • Make a few notes on areas you feel God is illuminating. • Meet your group for an hour each week (usually in a coffee shop/cafe) and take turns sharing your points. Simple. |
